Naomi Watts dedicates the Donostia Award to David Lynch

Naomi Watts received the Donostia Award, the top honor of the San Sebastián Festival, on Saturday evening. Ahead of the screening of her new film The Housewife, she dedicated the prize to David Lynch, the late director of Mulholland Drive.

Presented by director J.A. Bayona, who had directed her in The Impossible (2012), Watts thanked her former co-star Tom Holland and highlighted her gratitude for getting opportunities “as a woman of my age”. Bayona spoke about their collaboration on the project inspired by the 2004 tsunami, recalling the trust he gave her when she was “terrified”.

Moved, Naomi Watts expressed her affection for Bayona and concluded her speech by paying tribute to Lynch, saying she “misses him”.
