Emerging from Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country, he entered acting while still a student, taking interpretation classes to fund his ambition of becoming a marine scientist and working odd jobs such as dressing as a chocolate ball in a supermarket; his first screen appearance came in the ETB series Entre dos fuegos before he relocated to Madrid in 1999 to pursue a professional career.
