Emerging from Barcelona, Homar combined legal studies at the Autonomous University with theatrical training at the Institut del Teatre, joining early productions such as Othello (1974) and the Teatre del Escorpi troupe. In 1976 he helped establish the cooperative Teatre Lliure, where he performed in more than thirty productions and later served as artistic director from 1992 to 1998.
