Born in Stockton, California to a water-company superintendent and a mother who owned a dance studio, she began moving to music as a toddler and entered competitive dance by age four, studying under her mother and Barbara Faulkner, attending a Boston Ballet program in 2001 and even teaching classes at thirteen while being home-schooled.
