Emerging from wartime Poland, Jan Krenz honed his piano skills under Zbigniew Drzewiecki and studied composition with Kazimierz Sikorski before completing conducting studies with Kazimierz Wiłkomirski at the Academy of Music in Łódź (1945-1947).
