Emerging from a Russian-Jewish immigrant household, she launched her acting path straight out of high school by joining a summer-stock troupe. Early on she became a familiar face in daytime drama, originating Anna Wolek Craig on One Life to Live for a decade and taking assorted roles on Another World, The Doctors, The Edge of Night and All My Children, where she portrayed Pine Valley’s mayor.
