Emerging from a multicultural background, she was born Meryem Célarié in Dakar, then part of French Senegal, and after completing her baccalaureate spent a year in the United States before returning to France to study acting. The training paved the way for a versatile career as an actress, director, singer and later author, while she raises three sons in Aix-en-Provence.
