Born to a physicist father and an attorney mother in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she completed a biochemistry degree at UC Santa Cruz and, after a semester at Richmond College of Arts in London, shifted toward acting, briefly working in DNA sequencing before modeling and appearing in commercials.
