Issu d’une famille américaine et canadienne, il est né à Rome et a grandi à Mercer Island, où il a étudié l’histoire à l’Université de Washington avant d’obtenir un MFA au Professional Actors Training Program, tout en se forgeant une expérience d’improvisation à Seattle.
