Originaire de Canton (Ohio), il a étudié au Hiland High School puis à Kent State University, campus Stark, avant de se former à l’improvisation au Players Workshop de la Second City à Chicago et de rejoindre la troupe itinérante « Corn, Beef and Cabbage ». Il a poursuivi sa pratique aux Second City de Cleveland et Los Angeles, aux Groundlings et à Comedy Sportz.
